PSAT/NMSQT and the National Merit Scholarship

Students in 9th or 10th grade are well positioned to compete for the National Merit Scholarship. which is used to grant college admissions and scholarships by many colleges and universities across the nation. For example, USC will grant admissions with 50% tuition waived in addition to all the other scholarships that may come your way. A student needs to score high on the PSAT11 (PSAT 8/9 and 10 are practice rounds) to qualify as a semi-finalist and then follow up with a high ACT or SAT score to qualify as a finalist and then a National Merit Scholar.

My PSAT prep includes SAT Math, English (Writing and Language), and Reading, plus ACT Science, with the goal to score high on the PSAT for the initial round and the ACT or SAT for the final round. Students often find ACT to be a better test for the final round.
